Responsibilities
- Create, develop, validate, optimize, and deploy machine learning models and solutions for Milwaukee Tool products.
- Apply machine learning and AI methods involving embedded systems, edge computing, signal processing, computer vision, CNNs, transformers, and related domains.
- Develop and debug Python code and, preferably, embedded C or C++ code.
- Develop robust MLOps pipelines and support efficient deployment, monitoring, and scaling of ML models.
- Work cross-functionally, communicate technical concepts, manage project tasks, and take ownership of connected initiatives.
- Work with sensor technologies, microcontrollers, embedded systems architecture, and data collection methods.
- Travel domestically and internationally up to 10% of the time.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or another scientific or engineering discipline.
- Completed coursework or specialization in machine learning and/or data science.
- At least one year of hands-on experience applying machine learning principles and algorithms involving embedded systems, edge computing, signal processing, or a related field.
- Demonstrated non-coursework experience with supervised or unsupervised learning, classification, regression, dimensionality reduction, and model optimization.
- Experience with machine learning and AI methods such as CNNs, transformers, or computer vision.
- Proficiency developing and debugging Python code, including NumPy, pandas, scikit-learn, and Matplotlib.
- Proficiency with at least one deep learning framework, such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
- Strong foundation in statistics, linear algebra, calculus, and optimization.
- Experience with modern software development and version control tools.
- Preferred: master’s degree or PhD in machine learning or a related field.
- Preferred: at least three years of relevant hands-on ML experience; an advanced degree may count toward some experience.
- Preferred: time-series modeling, NLP, SLAM, forecasting, audio/video processing, and business-oriented AI or ML solution deployment.
- Preferred: embedded C or C++ development, sensor technologies, microcontrollers, embedded systems architecture, and edge ML deployment.
- Preferred: experience developing and deploying robust MLOps pipelines.
