Responsibilities
- Build and maintain scalable backend services using Python, FastAPI, and PostgreSQL for the online booking experience.
- Design and maintain APIs for checkout, payments, scheduling, customer accounts, and order management.
- Integrate with Stripe, CommerceTools, Salesforce, Voucherify, and other business-critical systems.
- Design resilient distributed systems with robust error handling, observability, and Datadog monitoring.
- Optimize application performance, database queries, and service reliability for high-volume transactional workloads.
- Write comprehensive automated tests and contribute to engineering quality and reliability practices.
- Partner with Product, Design, and engineering teams to deliver customer-facing features.
- Mentor engineers, participate in architecture discussions, and help drive technical direction across the platform.
Requirements
- At least 7 years of professional backend software engineering experience with Python.
- Strong experience building REST APIs with FastAPI, Flask, or Django.
- Deep knowledge of relational databases, especially PostgreSQL, including schema design and query optimization.
- Experience building and maintaining distributed systems and integrating external APIs.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS and modern CI/CD practices.
- Strong testing practices using pytest and experience building reliable automated test suites.
- Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Datadog or similar platforms.
- Ability to work comfortably with ambiguity, balance speed with quality, and own work from design through production.
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Preferred experience includes CommerceTools, Stripe, Affirm, SQLAlchemy, Pydantic, asynchronous Python development, Terraform, Docker, GitHub Actions, scheduling or subscription systems, healthcare applications, and highly regulated industries.
