Base Salary
$230k - $390k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design the secure-capture protocol supporting voice, chat, telephony, contact-center, and Sierra voice-stack channels
- Build and extend a tokenization platform using per-token envelope encryption and unique data keys
- Own the infrastructure-enforced security perimeter around the cardholder-data environment
- Build deterministic, auditable cardholder-data detection in the agent hot path
- Help design a purpose-built detection model while ensuring no language model sees plaintext cardholder data
- Develop processor-agnostic charging, self-serve onboarding, and single-tenant payment deployments
- Set technical direction for complex platform problems and create abstractions that work across teams and customers
- Raise engineering standards and support other engineers building on the platform
Requirements
- 7+ years building backend, platform, or infrastructure systems
- Track record of shipping and operating high-reliability production services
- Fluency in a systems language, with Go used at Sierra
- Experience owning critical distributed systems end to end, including design, production operation, and on-call
- Strong security instincts involving blast radius, least privilege, and prevention of unsafe states
- Experience setting technical direction on ambiguous, high-stakes problems
- Ability to build reusable abstractions and protocols over inconsistent external systems
- Degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
- Preferred experience in payments, PCI, tokenization, key management, healthcare, or other regulated or sensitive-data domains
- Preferred depth in applied cryptography, key management, voice or telephony, real-time media pipelines, cloud security, or network isolation
- Preferred experience building internal protocols, SDKs, and self-serve developer platforms
