Responsibilities
- Design and architect enterprise-grade Appian solutions using process models, rules, CDTs, portals, and interfaces.
- Gather and document functional and technical requirements from DoD stakeholders and translate them into technical specifications and solution designs.
- Develop API integrations using REST, SOAP, JDBC, and web service technologies.
- Design and execute ETL processes and data migrations while maintaining data integrity and compliance.
- Develop and optimize SQL queries and relational database designs using Oracle, SQL Server, and similar technologies.
- Implement secure authentication and authorization mechanisms and support compliance with security standards, FISMA, and Section 508.
- Conduct code reviews, peer programming, technical documentation, and coding-standard development.
- Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, manage work in Jira, and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Troubleshoot complex technical issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement preventive solutions.
- Provide technical demonstrations and presentations to clients and communicate solutions to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Mentor junior developers and consultants and provide guidance on Appian best practices.
- Use Appian AI and ML capabilities for intelligent automation, document processing, chatbots, and predictive workflows.
Requirements
- U.S. citizenship or eligibility to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
- At least 6 years of hands-on software development experience, including at least 3 years of direct professional Appian platform development.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Strong SQL expertise, including database schema design and optimization, with experience in Oracle, SQL Server, or similar relational databases.
- Experience designing and implementing REST, SOAP, and web service API integrations.
- Experience with ETL tools and data migration practices.
- Proficiency with Agile/Scrum methodologies and Jira or similar project management tools.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with technical and non-technical audiences.
- Understanding of federal security standards, compliance requirements, and Section 508 accessibility guidelines.
- Preferred: Appian Lead Developer Certification at L4+ or multiple advanced Appian certifications.
- Preferred: Experience with Appian AI capabilities, document processing/RPA, intelligent forms, and generative AI integrations.
- Preferred: At least 5 years of combined software development and/or technical consulting experience in government or federal contracting environments.
- Preferred: Experience with AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Oracle Cloud in enterprise or government contexts.
- Preferred: Knowledge of SAFe or other enterprise agile methodologies.
- Preferred: Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, Git, and automated testing frameworks.
- Preferred: Familiarity with FISMA, FedRAMP, FAR/DFAR, and other DoD or federal standards.
- Preferred: Experience with Business Process Management platforms, workflow automation, or process reengineering.
