Responsibilities
- Define and evolve the Agent, Skill, and Tool architecture for reasoning, planning, collaboration, discoverability, reuse, permission-aware data access, and progressive autonomy
- Architect and scale the context graph, retrieval systems, and knowledge systems for customer-specific intelligence and cross-asset reasoning
- Own agent orchestration, the MCP tool registry, reproducible developer environments, and observability capabilities
- Design offline and online evaluation systems so user feedback improves agent performance
- Drive technical alignment and platform adoption across product engineering divisions and hold engineering leaders accountable
- Set company-wide AI platform strategy, make high-leverage architectural decisions, and represent MaintainX engineering internally and externally
Requirements
- 10+ years of software engineering experience with significant depth in backend systems, distributed architecture, or platform/infrastructure engineering
- 3+ years building ML- or LLM-powered systems in production, including experience with evaluation, latency, cost, and reliability
- Track record of company-wide technical leadership at the Principal level and influencing engineering strategy across multiple teams
- Experience building internal platforms for engineering customers, including adoption, documentation, enablement, and developer ergonomics
- Strong Python backend expertise and experience designing APIs, services, and data pipelines
- Ability to write clear design documents, facilitate technical decisions across teams, and represent engineering externally
- Production experience with agentic systems, multi-agent orchestration, tool use, or skill registries is preferred
- Experience with MCP, LangGraph, LlamaIndex, Langfuse, LangSmith, Braintrust, RAG pipelines, vector databases, embedding strategies, or knowledge graphs is preferred
- Experience in B2B SaaS, industrial software, IoT/OT, or other reliability-sensitive, domain-specific environments is preferred
