Responsibilities
- Design and deliver a reliable, scalable, secure, and performant Red Hat Linux platform.
- Install, maintain, upgrade, patch, troubleshoot, and support UNIX and Linux servers and system software or hardware.
- Support high availability using clustering software and perform disaster recovery activities.
- Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation and drive improvements through SRE practices.
- Improve observability and monitoring, eliminate toil, manage knowledge, support error-budget compliance, and contribute to deployment designs and testing.
- Secure systems according to published hardening guidelines and assist with audit and compliance tasks.
- Support operating-system instances across on-premises, private-cloud, and public-cloud environments.
- Automate releases and support continuous integration and delivery systems and infrastructure tools.
- Mentor, coach, and develop team members while managing resource allocation and workload balancing.
- Partner with technology teams, share expertise across engineering and operations, and improve internal customer outcomes.
Requirements
- 10–15 years of experience managing Linux- or UNIX-based infrastructure, preferably in banking.
- Experience supporting on-premises and public-cloud operating-system instances, including AWS and Oracle Cloud.
- Intermediate-level knowledge of at least one of Python, PowerShell, Ruby, Java, C++, C#, or Go.
- Experience with release automation, continuous integration and delivery systems, and related infrastructure tools.
- Experience or understanding of Software Defined Data Centre, AWS or Azure cloud-native infrastructure, and managed services such as EC2, S3, storage options, VPCs, and IAM.
- Experience with infrastructure as code using Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Knowledge of configuration-management systems such as SCCM, Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities, with accountability, ownership, initiative, and a customer-focused approach.
- Ability to mentor, coach, and develop team members and experience with resource allocation and workload balancing.
