Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and operate highly available distributed systems that remain resilient to regional and zonal outages.
- Own and lead major features from design through implementation and production rollout.
- Build microservices and control-plane components for Dedicated Cloud Gateways and Serverless Gateways.
- Partner with Product and Engineering teams to deliver scalable API infrastructure features.
- Participate in on-call rotations, own production services, and drive reliability improvements.
- Write automated tests, observability hooks, and tooling to improve reliability and reduce toil.
- Assist with hiring and mentor engineers on the team.
- Contribute to the Managed Gateways technical roadmap and ideas related to infrastructure, networking, and platform engineering.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience building high-performance software, ideally in infrastructure or platform engineering.
- Strong experience with Golang.
- Deep understanding of distributed systems, L4/L7 networking, DNS, TLS/SSL, HTTP, and cloud-native architectures.
- Hands-on experience with at least one of AWS, GCP, or Azure and with Kubernetes.
- Experience building and standardizing APIs in large organizations and creating API workflows.
- Experience designing and operating systems supporting 99.99%+ uptime SLAs.
- Ability to debug complex systems from packet- and protocol-level details through high-level design.
- Knowledge of observability and monitoring practices for high availability and performance.
- Strong communication, collaboration, ownership, end-to-end execution, and technical direction skills.
- Preferred experience with Nginx, Envoy, or HAProxy; API management or developer platforms; multi-cloud networking; and open-source infrastructure or networking projects.
