Responsibilities

  • Build scalable, high-performance backend and data solutions for engineering and operations platforms.
  • Define reliable, maintainable patterns for data ingestion, processing, storage, and access.
  • Develop data services, APIs, pipelines, and data products for engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders.
  • Design and implement ETL/ELT processes for ingesting and transforming data from diverse sources.
  • Contribute to data architecture, modeling, storage, and analytical platform decisions.
  • Ensure data quality and integrity through validation, monitoring, and data governance practices.
  • Provide observability and monitoring for platform components and support issue detection and resolution.
  • Write and maintain architectural, technical, and user-facing documentation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data needs and deliver solutions.
  • Guide less experienced engineers and promote engineering best practices and continuous learning.

Requirements

  • A degree in software engineering, computer science, data science, or a similar field.
  • At least 6 years of hands-on experience with one or more of C#, Java, Rust, or Python.
  • Strong experience with batch and streaming data processing.
  • Understanding of time-series concepts including sampling rates, decimation, signal integrity, and frequency-domain analysis.
  • Experience optimizing native data processing and DataFrame-based processing.
  • Strong skills querying, transforming, and optimizing large-scale datasets.
  • Understanding of Lakehouse, Data Warehouse, and Medallion Architecture patterns.
  • Hands-on experience with Delta Lake and Apache Iceberg.
  • Experience with Apache Kafka and event-driven architectures.
  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory, Databricks, or Snowflake.
  • Understanding of software engineering principles including maintainability, testing, and automation.
  • Understanding of cloud infrastructure, networking, and platform operations.
  • Experience with Protobuf and columnar formats including Parquet, Arrow, Zarr, and Arrow Flight.
  • Experience with observability, monitoring, and telemetry solutions.
  • Experience with OLAP databases or time-series databases such as ClickHouse, Apache Druid, or InfluxDB.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively and collaborate across disciplines.
  • Experience with large-scale engineering, manufacturing, or telemetry datasets is a bonus.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure as Code is a bonus.
  • Experience with stream-processing frameworks such as Apache Flink is a bonus.
