Responsibilities
- Develop Java and Spring Boot components and integrations for the backend platform.
- Support consuming systems in adopting a new message format.
- Migrate workloads from a private cloud environment to Microsoft Azure and Azure Kubernetes Service.
- Deliver functionality for critical operational processes, including ERTMS and integrated operational control.
- Assess technical choices for simplicity, quality, and feasibility.
- Apply and promote modern engineering, testing, and DevOps practices.
- Use AI tools for development, testing, refactoring, and analysis, and coach colleagues in their adoption.
- Work hands-on across design, development, testing, deployment, and continuous improvement.
- Support technical decision-making and constructively challenge existing solution directions.
- Participate in an on-call support rotation.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree level of education, or equivalent HBO/WO level of thinking and working.
- At least five years of recent experience as a Senior Java Developer in a complex IT environment.
- Deep hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot.
- Extensive experience with Microsoft Azure and container platforms, preferably Azure Kubernetes Service.
- Extensive experience with asynchronous messaging, REST services, and integrations in distributed systems.
- Extensive experience with relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL.
- Experience with automated testing, CI/CD, and DevOps practices.
- Experience developing business-critical software requiring high availability and reliability.
- Experience using AI tools responsibly in software development and coaching colleagues in their adoption.
- Excellent command of Dutch is mandatory.
- A hands-on, pragmatic, results-oriented approach and the ability to move quickly from analysis to execution.
- Ability to influence colleagues through technical seniority and constructively challenge existing practices.
- Preferred experience with complex real-time or mission-critical systems in rail, logistics, or traffic management.
- Preferred experience migrating workloads from private cloud environments to Azure.
