Base Salary
$107k - $161k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of medium-scale applications and support larger engineering initiatives.
- Design, implement, optimize, and troubleshoot enterprise-grade microservices and distributed Java applications.
- Drive architectural decisions, trade-off analysis, target-state blueprints, and technology modernization initiatives.
- Design and deploy scalable containerized applications in hybrid-cloud environments.
- Define and improve coding, testing, debugging, implementation, delivery, and operational standards.
- Analyze root causes, resolve defects, assess dependencies, and address application performance and reliability concerns.
- Participate in the full development lifecycle, including agile and waterfall delivery dependencies, test execution, and software quality activities.
- Collaborate with engineering teams, business partners, technology leaders, and third-party vendors on implementation plans and roadmaps.
- Monitor metrics, manage risks and escalations, improve cross-team delivery processes, and streamline repeated operational work.
- Communicate technical decisions and progress to engineering and non-technical stakeholders and share knowledge through engineering forums.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of hands-on infrastructure management and software engineering experience, with the posting describing 8+ years for the successful candidate.
- Bachelor's or university degree, or equivalent experience.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to evaluate technical trade-offs and make engineering decisions.
- Experience delivering software through agile methods, including sprint planning, retrospectives, and iterative releases.
- Deep Java expertise for high-performance, multi-threaded, distributed, and enterprise-scale applications.
- Hands-on experience designing and evolving microservices architectures, application design patterns, service decomposition, and API contracts.
- Experience with technology modernization or next-generation platform transformation initiatives.
- Experience with AWS or Microsoft Azure cloud platforms and scalable hybrid-cloud solutions.
- Proficiency in Java, Python 3.10+, or TypeScript.
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes, including OpenShift or Amazon EKS, for production containerized applications.
- Experience with TIBCO, Apache Kafka, or MuleSoft and event-driven or message-based architectures.
- Knowledge of Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Actions, or ArgoCD for automated build, test, and deployment workflows.
- Experience with PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Oracle, or Redis, including performance tuning, schema design, and data modeling.
- Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, or Splunk for monitoring and observability.
- Experience conducting architectural trade-off analysis using ATAM or ADRs.
- Experience working with technology vendors and service providers.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
