Responsibilities
- Develop and test system software drivers and utilities for point-of-sale self-checkout systems, servers, and peripheral devices.
- Design and modify system software middle layers interfacing between point-of-sale applications and hardware on Windows and Linux.
- Troubleshoot system problems, analyze issues, and recommend technical solutions.
- Perform product improvements and upgrades for retail, grocery, fuel, and restaurant systems.
- Coordinate with offshore development and testing resources to manage software deliverables.
- Produce functional designs, technical designs, use cases, and technical release documentation.
- Interact with cross-functional teams and communicate project status to management.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
- 1–6 years of software development-related experience.
- Experience programming in C, C++, C#, and/or Java.
- Experience with Windows and Linux.
- Working knowledge of computer architectures, technology trends, and emerging technologies.
- Desired experience with Windows and Linux kernel-mode drivers and low-level interfaces.
- Desired experience with point-of-sale hardware, UPOS, Linux containers, Microsoft Visual Studio, GitHub, Jira, networking, USB, RS-232, Ethernet, bus analyzers, and hardware debugging tools.
- Ability to read electrical schematics and work independently, communicate effectively, estimate development effort, and manage multiple projects.
