Responsibilities

  • Define, develop, test, analyze, and maintain software programs and applications.
  • Participate in code reviews, design reviews, and brainstorming sessions.
  • Develop program and system documentation.
  • Analyze and fix software errors in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Consult with users, architects, project leaders, and management to resolve problems and suggest alternatives.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Math, Actuarial Science, Economics, Statistics, or another logic-based field, or equivalent experience, is preferred.
  • No previous programming experience is required because full training is provided.
  • Knowledge of COBOL, DB2, TSO, databases, and/or SQL is a plus.
  • Exposure to R, SAS, Python, MATLAB, C, C++, Java, or JCL is helpful.
  • Strong grades in a logic-based field and an interest in learning software development are traditionally successful for this role.
  • Ability to learn and effectively use the tools and software development techniques used by the IT Division.
