Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end integration of EO/IR cameras, gimbals, lidar, radar, IMUs, and GNSS from electrical interfaces and wiring through recording pipelines.
- Develop sensor drivers and ROS2 nodes using I2C, SPI, CAN, Serial, MIPI/CSI-2, GigE Vision, Ethernet, RTSP, and UDP interfaces.
- Implement distributed-sensor time synchronization using PTP, PPS, and hardware triggering.
- Develop intrinsic and extrinsic calibration routines for camera-camera and camera-IMU systems.
- Build and optimize NVIDIA Jetson recording systems using hardware-accelerated video pipelines, MCAP/rosbag logging, and storage-throughput optimization.
- Evaluate sensors and SDKs with bench testing and diagnostic tools, and make integration recommendations.
- Deploy and operate recording systems during data-collection campaigns across Europe, troubleshoot issues in real time, and validate recordings on site.
- Create integration documentation and calibration reports for reproducible team setups.
Requirements
- Degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or comparable practical experience.
- Proficiency in Python and C++ for robotics and hardware interfacing.
- Experience deploying ROS2 on physical systems.
- Hands-on experience with multiple hardware protocols, including I2C, SPI, CAN, Serial, or Ethernet-based sensor communication.
- Experience integrating cameras or other sensors on embedded Linux platforms, ideally NVIDIA Jetson.
- Understanding of camera models, distortion, projection geometry, and OpenCV.
- Understanding of coordinate frames, transformations, and distributed-system time synchronization, with practical calibration experience preferred.
- Comfort with hardware diagnostic tools such as multimeters and oscilloscopes, and software workflows including Git, CI, and Docker.
- Willingness to travel regularly for field campaigns and work outdoors in varied conditions.
- Preferred qualifications include UAV or mobile-robot experience, PX4/ArduPilot, MAVLink, photogrammetry, 3D reconstruction, embedded Linux driver development, GStreamer, JetPack/L4T, CUDA/TensorRT, MIPI/CSI-2 camera bring-up, ISP tuning, Linux kernel/device tree work, Kalibr, lidar and point-cloud processing, PCL, Open3D, PyTorch, ONNX, Gazebo, Isaac Sim, and synthetic-data generation.
Benefits
- The role is available across experience levels, with scope and seniority matched to the candidate’s profile.
- Regular travel across Europe for field data-collection campaigns and outdoor work in varied conditions are part of the role.
- Applicants should submit a CV in English.
