Base Salary
$165k - $231k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, test, verify, and deploy Flight Dynamics System software for orbit maintenance, collision avoidance, engine commodity bookkeeping, and flight dynamics product generation.
- Build and operate microservices and data pipelines that translate astrodynamics algorithms into production mission-critical systems.
- Collaborate with vehicle systems, mission control infrastructure, operations, astrodynamics, trajectory execution, and customer teams to define requirements, architectures, and designs.
- Develop prototypes, quantify technical risks, and coordinate with infrastructure and systems engineers to meet safety-critical standards.
- Create software architecture documentation, design and verification plans, user manuals, training materials, and related operational documentation.
- Support pre-flight testing, mission validation, operations training, spacecraft integration, ground data system certification, and flight operations.
- Integrate software components, run unit and system tests, validate software with Software-in-the-Loop and Hardware-in-the-Loop simulators, and release certified code.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, aerospace engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- At least 5 years of software development experience.
- Experience across the full software development lifecycle, including system design, requirements, implementation, verification, integration, qualification, and release.
- Experience with software build automation, continuous integration, configuration management, verification, and deployment.
- Ability to develop software in multiple programming languages and select the language appropriate to the problem domain.
- Familiarity with Linux and basic Unix system administration.
- Ability to earn trust and maintain positive, professional relationships.
- Preferred experience developing ground software for spaceflight operations and complex applications in Python.
- Preferred experience with REST, Kafka, gRPC, web development, database development and interfaces, infrastructure as code, or cloud technologies.
- Preferred familiarity with astrodynamics, telemetry processing, fault monitoring, flight dynamics, mission planning, spacecraft ephemeris, conjunction data processing, space situational awareness, and spacecraft subsystems.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted refugee or asylee.
