Responsibilities
- Design and develop real-time embedded software for next-generation controller products.
- Participate in all phases of software development from product definition through production release.
- Develop BSPs, device drivers, middleware, and application firmware on VxWorks and Embedded Linux.
- Perform board bring-up, firmware integration, hardware-software troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
- Implement boot architectures, startup sequences, secure boot, firmware upgrades, and system recovery processes.
- Develop and debug multithreaded and multiprocess real-time systems.
- Integrate and validate industrial communication protocol stacks in embedded firmware and control applications.
- Use debugging, trace, memory analysis, and hardware analysis tools to resolve complex system-level issues.
- Collaborate with hardware, systems, software, test, and product engineering teams.
- Support code reviews, pair programming, automated build and test activities, and firmware quality processes.
- Drive technical challenges and implementation through completion while supporting product quality.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 12–16 years of experience in embedded software or firmware development on Intel x86 and ARM-based processors or controllers.
- Strong proficiency in C and C++ for high-performance, reliable, and safety-critical embedded software.
- Experience developing BSPs, device drivers, middleware, and application firmware on VxWorks and Embedded Linux.
- Expertise in hardware board bring-up, firmware integration, performance optimization, boot architectures, startup sequences, and recovery processes.
- Experience with U-Boot, GRUB, MLO, secure boot, and firmware upgrade mechanisms.
- Experience designing real-time embedded software using multithreaded and multiprocess architectures under VxWorks or other commercial RTOS environments.
- Expertise debugging and analyzing complex real-time systems with Wind River Workbench, GDB, JTAG debuggers, trace tools, memory analyzers, and RTOS debugging utilities.
- Understanding and implementation experience with industrial communication protocols including EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP/RTU, PROFINE, PROFIBUS, EtherCAT, and DNP3.
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, UDP, network diagnostics, and cybersecurity considerations for industrial control systems.
- Experience with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers, and JTAG or boundary-scan tools.
- Ability to interpret hardware schematics, processor datasheets, memory maps, FPGA interfaces, and peripheral specifications.
- Experience with Agile/Scrum development, continuous integration and deployment, automated build and test frameworks, and version control systems such as Git and SVN.
- Familiarity with industrial automation standards, reliability requirements, and firmware quality processes for mission-critical control systems.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, written communication, verbal communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Preferred: programmable logic controller firmware experience, Xilinx UltraScale SoC firmware experience, and Python scripting experience.
