Responsibilities
- Own the technical vision and strategy for the QuickBooks Design System and architect scalable UI infrastructure.
- Lead complex component strategy, technical specifications, dependency sequencing, risk management, and cross-functional integration.
- Optimize rendering performance, bundle sizes, tree-shaking, coding practices, and operational excellence across the design system ecosystem.
- Design end-to-end customer workflows and scalable technology solutions that standardize UI components.
- Improve developer experience by removing technical barriers and creating durable upgrade paths for consuming teams.
- Define accessibility standards and ensure WCAG 2.1+ compliance while aligning quality and maintenance practices with project lifecycles.
- Identify organization-wide gaps in technical debt, tools, and processes; provide actionable feedback and support continuous learning.
- Champion emerging technologies and AI/GenAI solutions for complex cross-team and design-system problems.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, Design, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Extensive experience owning technical vision and strategy for a domain and scaling a widely consumed component library or design system across multiple teams.
- Deep front-end performance optimization experience with a record of solving difficult problems and improving productivity across teams.
- Expert knowledge of React, TypeScript, Git, Figma, and component documentation platforms such as Storybook.
- Expert knowledge of CSS and the headless UI ecosystem, with experience leading complex technical initiatives and organizational change.
- Strong understanding of accessibility, including ARIA, WCAG, and screen readers, plus experience with experimentation, problem validation, and product influence.
- Customer research, data interpretation, and usage-signal analysis skills for identifying latent needs and aligning strategic goals.
- Portfolio or GitHub profile demonstrating professional creative work, open-source contributions, or systems-level engineering.
- Deep expertise evaluating AI solutions, integrating AI/GenAI into foundational architecture, and anticipating risks in complex projects.
