Responsibilities
- Lead individual-contributor software development for marine electronics products using C and C++.
- Design and review complex software systems and architected modules supporting new technology or improved functionality.
- Research fundamental problems and implement appropriate algorithmic solutions.
- Perform technical root-cause analysis, define corrective actions, and solve complex software problems.
- Participate in peer code reviews, technical assessments, project leadership, program planning, and product development planning.
- Estimate effort, evaluate technology options, improve processes, and provide feedback on some electrical design aspects.
- Mentor and guide less experienced Software Engineers 1 and 2.
- Contribute to advanced technical research on new technologies.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Math, Physics, or a related field and at least five years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Mastered proficiency writing software in C and C++.
- Demonstrated ability to design well-architected software systems and modules and implement algorithmic solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to serve as a lead software engineer on a complex software project.
- Ability to decompose functional requirements into well-defined tasks and balance quality, quantity, and complexity.
- Strong verbal, written, interpersonal, organizational, problem-solving, prioritization, and leadership skills.
- Preferred qualifications include consumer product design experience, internship experience in design, high-level UI experience, and a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5.
- A cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 is generally expected.
