
Senior Software Engineering Lead – COMPASS Platform & AI Solutions, AVP
State StreetResponsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-scale applications supporting COMPASS business capabilities.
- Lead development across transaction processing, workflow orchestration, integrations, reporting, and operational services.
- Drive software engineering practices, code quality, DevOps automation, automated testing, and CI/CD adoption.
- Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership across distributed global teams.
- Build AI-powered solutions and apply generative AI to software development, testing, documentation, production support, exception management, reconciliation, and user experience.
- Evaluate and implement Azure OpenAI, Copilot, LLM, RAG, intelligent-agent, and AI-assisted automation solutions.
- Design scalable, resilient cloud-native architectures and lead integrations with internal and external platforms.
- Support AWS and Azure migration and modernization initiatives, including observability, monitoring, and performance optimization.
- Collaborate with product owners, business SMEs, operations teams, architecture, infrastructure, security, and executive stakeholders.
- Support release planning, BUAT, system integration testing, production readiness, and platform rollout activities.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of enterprise software development experience.
- Strong Java, Spring Boot, microservices, REST API development, system integration, and distributed systems experience.
- Experience with Oracle, PostgreSQL, SQL optimization, and data integration solutions.
- Hands-on experience with AWS and/or Azure cloud services.
- Experience with CI/CD, GitHub, Jenkins, and DevOps automation.
- Experience building scalable enterprise applications.
- Experience using generative AI tools in software development and understanding of LLMs, RAG frameworks, vector databases, prompt engineering, SDD, and AI orchestration.
- Experience with GitHub Copilot, Azure OpenAI, LangChain, Semantic Kernel, or equivalent technologies.
- Ability to identify and deliver AI use cases that improve engineering productivity and operational efficiency.
- Experience leading development teams and mentoring engineers, with strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.
- Ability to work with global teams across APAC, EMEA, and North America.
- Preferred: shareholder services, investment management, transfer agency, or financial services experience.
- Preferred: workflow platform, transaction processing, investment operations, AI governance, responsible AI, model risk control, agentic AI, or enterprise automation experience.
