Senior Software Engineer (VB6 / Legacy Modernization)

Responsibilities
- Use AI tools to read, document, and understand complex legacy code.
- Refactor existing VB6 code and build new components in Python and SQL.
- Work with VB6, COM/ActiveX, Python scripts, and SQL queries across the legacy and modernized system.
- Optimize SQL queries and diagnose production issues in a multi-tenant environment.
- Collaborate directly with client engineers and product leaders as an embedded team member.
Requirements
- Comfort using AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, or similar.
- Solid experience with SQL Server and relational database design.
- Experience navigating and contributing to large, complex legacy codebases.
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills in production environments.
- Ability to read and understand VB6, COM/ActiveX, or equivalent legacy technologies.
- Experience with GIS technologies such as ESRI MapObjects or ArcSDE is a plus.
- Familiarity with Jenkins or GitHub Actions for CI/CD is a plus.
- Python scripting for automation or tooling is a plus.
- Prior exposure to legacy-to-modern migration projects is a plus.
- Multi-tenant database architecture experience is a plus.
