Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, roll out, and provide production support for the platform behind Snowflake AI Functions.
  • Build high-throughput distributed services that manage inference requests at data warehouse scale with predictable cost and reliability.
  • Develop architecture for multimodal inference, quality gates, broader input-data support, and improved failure detection, diagnosis, and recovery.
  • Collaborate with research, product, and engineering partners to shape product strategy.
  • Mentor less experienced engineers and communicate complex concepts and results to leadership.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience building production backend or distributed systems in C++, Java, Go, Python, or a comparable language.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in a technical field such as computer science, electrical engineering, physics, or mathematics.
  • Experience designing and operating high-throughput services, including concurrency, backpressure, partial failures, and observability.
  • Experience designing service or RPC APIs such as REST or gRPC.
  • Experience with distributed systems, software engineering best practices, testing, version control, CI/CD, containers, and agile development.
  • Ability to independently turn ambiguous problems into organized, scoped, and testable designs and work effectively with a team.
  • Experience with SQL engines, query execution, or other large-scale data systems is preferred.
  • Hands-on MLOps experience, such as deploying machine-learning models, is preferred.
  • A master’s degree or PhD is a plus; research experience involving model pre-training or fine-tuning is not required.
