Responsibilities
- Own the technical architecture and strategy for Verkada’s internal identity and access management platform.
- Design, build, and operate highly available and observable backend infrastructure for access provisioning and review.
- Develop integrations with identity providers such as Okta, including custom roles, entitlement mapping, and infrastructure-as-code management.
- Automate access review, approval, risk scoring, anomaly detection, and self-service provisioning workflows.
- Build developer-friendly chat-based tools for requesting, approving, and auditing access.
- Ensure access controls meet compliance requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
- At least 5 years of backend engineering or security platform engineering experience.
- Demonstrated experience building access management platforms or identity infrastructure from the ground up.
- Strong understanding of identity primitives, least-privilege access, and OAuth 2.0, OIDC, SAML, or SCIM.
- Experience implementing role-based, policy-based, or attribute-based access control models.
- Experience replacing manual workflows with automation, ideally using AI or LLM-driven tooling.
- Experience operating highly available infrastructure in cloud-native environments with AWS, Kubernetes, and Terraform.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Preferred experience with Okta administration and APIs at scale, Slack-based or chat-ops tooling, and regulated environments such as FedRAMP, SOC 2, or ISO 27001.
