Responsibilities

  • Develop and improve AFRY’s BID3 electricity market model.
  • Work on advanced hydropower modelling, including cascade modelling and stochastic dynamic programming approaches.
  • Apply mathematical modelling and optimization to electricity markets and energy systems.
  • Participate in software development within a collaborative engineering environment.
  • Contribute to consulting assignments and collaborate directly with energy companies, transmission system operators, policymakers, and market experts.
  • Work with international colleagues and clients across Europe and beyond.

Requirements

  • 1–4 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Master’s degree or PhD in STEM, economics, or a related quantitative discipline.
  • Programming experience in Python, C#, or similar languages.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills in an international environment.
  • Interest in at least two of mathematical modelling and optimization, energy markets and energy systems, and software development.
  • Experience with optimization modelling is beneficial.
  • Experience with Mosel, Gurobi, GAMS, AMPL, Pyomo, or similar optimization frameworks is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with electricity markets, hydropower systems, or energy modelling is beneficial.
  • Experience working in a software development team is beneficial.
