
Cloud Observability Architect

- Lead Tyler’s enterprise observability transformation using an application-first approach focused on application performance, service reliability, customer experience, and business outcomes.
- Define, build, and evolve enterprise observability architecture, standardized platforms, integrations, telemetry patterns, and platform strategy.
- Establish observability standards, governance, architecture patterns, operational policies, telemetry collection and retention practices, alerting standards, and incident detection processes.
- Define and implement SLIs, SLOs, reliability metrics, service reliability frameworks, SLA reporting practices, and operational performance frameworks.
- Evaluate observability technologies and guide implementation across applications, services, platforms, and infrastructure.
- Partner with FinOps to optimize telemetry management, observability spend, data lifecycle practices, and cloud costs.
- Build a community of practice that promotes observability adoption, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement.
- Manage strategic relationships with observability vendors and partners and influence product roadmaps.
- Analyze operational data and telemetry to improve reliability, performance, customer experience, and cost optimization.
- Influence technical direction across diverse stakeholder groups without direct authority and communicate complex technical concepts to technical, non-technical, and executive audiences.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 10+ years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, Platform Engineering, Observability Engineering, Cloud Engineering, or Systems Engineering roles.
- 3+ years of experience architecting, implementing, and evolving enterprise-scale observability solutions in complex cloud, SaaS, or hybrid environments.
- Experience leading technical transformation initiatives and driving adoption of engineering practices across multiple teams and organizations.
- Experience assessing monitoring and observability ecosystems, developing strategic roadmaps, and guiding enterprise technology decisions.
- Deep understanding of application performance monitoring, distributed tracing, logging, metrics, telemetry pipelines, and SRE practices.
- Experience defining and implementing SLIs, SLOs, reliability metrics, and operational performance frameworks.
- Understanding of cloud-native architectures, microservices, and application-centric monitoring strategies.
- Experience operating within enterprise governance, security, compliance, and change management frameworks, including PCI, CJIS, and SSAE requirements.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, stakeholder management, and influencing skills.
- Preferred hands-on experience with Datadog, New Relic, Sumo Logic, Amazon CloudWatch, Dynatrace, Grafana, Splunk, OpenTelemetry, Kubernetes, AIOps, automated incident response, or intelligent operations workflows.
- Industry certifications in cloud platforms, SRE, observability, architecture, or related disciplines are desirable.
- Successful completion of a fingerprint-based background check is required for CJIS-related responsibilities.
