Responsibilities
- Facilitate and advance Tyler’s enterprise observability strategy with an application-first focus on performance, reliability, customer experience, and business outcomes.
- Design, implement, and evolve enterprise observability architectures and platform strategies across cloud and SaaS environments.
- Establish observability standards, governance, architecture patterns, operational policies, telemetry practices, and communities of practice.
- Lead evaluations of observability technologies and vendors, document requirements and tradeoffs, and guide enterprise technology decisions.
- Define and implement SLIs, SLOs, reliability metrics, alerting standards, incident detection practices, and operational performance frameworks.
- Collaborate with engineering, SRE, Cloud Operations, security, governance, FinOps, product, and executive stakeholders to build alignment and adoption.
- Optimize observability costs through telemetry management, data lifecycle practices, platform governance, and FinOps collaboration.
- Analyze operational data and telemetry to improve reliability, performance, customer experience, incident resolution, and cost efficiency.
- Manage strategic relationships with observability vendors and partners and influence product roadmaps.
- Operate within enterprise architecture, cloud governance, compliance, security, and change management frameworks.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 10+ years of experience in SRE, DevOps, Platform Engineering, Observability Engineering, Cloud Engineering, or Systems Engineering roles.
- 3+ years of experience architecting, implementing, and evolving enterprise-scale observability solutions in complex cloud, SaaS, or hybrid environments.
- Demonstrated experience leading technical transformation initiatives through stakeholder engagement, coalition-building, and shared decision-making across multiple teams or organizations.
- Strong experience assessing monitoring and observability ecosystems, developing strategic roadmaps, and guiding enterprise technology decisions.
- Deep understanding of APM, distributed tracing, logging, metrics, telemetry pipelines, and SRE practices.
- Experience defining and implementing SLIs, SLOs, reliability metrics, and operational performance frameworks.
- Strong understanding of cloud-native architectures, microservices, and application-centric monitoring strategies.
- Experience with enterprise governance, security, compliance, change management, and regulated environments.
- Exceptional communication, facilitation, negotiation, stakeholder management, and consensus-building skills.
- Preferred experience with Datadog, New Relic, Sumo Logic, Amazon CloudWatch, Dynatrace, Grafana, Splunk, or similar observability platforms.
- Preferred experience with OpenTelemetry, Kubernetes, containers, cloud platforms, CI/CD pipelines, platform engineering, and modern software delivery practices.
- Preferred experience establishing observability governance, communities of practice, architecture standards, or telemetry management frameworks.
- Preferred experience optimizing observability spend with FinOps teams and designing AI-assisted observability, AIOps, automated incident response, or intelligent operations workflows.
- Industry certifications in cloud platforms, SRE, observability, architecture, or related disciplines are desirable.
- Successful completion of a fingerprint-based background check is required for CJIS-related responsibilities.
