Responsibilities
- Architect, design, and implement low-level embedded software for airborne systems and aircraft functionality.
- Adapt aircraft embedded software for manufacturing, tooling, and specialized test applications.
- Contribute to conceptual system design discussions within a cross-functional engineering team.
- Develop production-ready embedded software for hardware-in-the-loop test setups, automated test equipment, and factory operations.
- Analyze embedded flight systems and protocols to diagnose issues, optimize performance, and repurpose firmware.
- Work onsite in Santa Cruz, California, three days per week.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, Physics, Mathematics, Robotics, or a related technical field plus 3+ years of relevant embedded software experience; or a related master’s degree plus 1+ years of relevant experience; or equivalent demonstrated experience through a portfolio of deployed embedded software systems.
- Knowledge of C++ and object-oriented programming, with some experience in multi-layered system architectures.
- Understanding of embedded hardware, modern microcontroller and microprocessor architectures, and integrated development environments and debuggers.
- Hands-on experience with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers, voltmeters, or similar test and measurement equipment.
- Knowledge of communication protocols including I2C, CAN, SPI, and UART.
- Knowledge of real-time operating systems and experience with safety-critical embedded systems are desired.
- Exposure to modern software engineering practices and the DO178C process, requirements authoring, and verification is desired.
- Passion for aerospace and ability to work onsite in Santa Cruz, California, three days per week.
