Paris, FranceSenior
Responsibilities
- Develop onboard motion planning with obstacle avoidance, replanning, and perception-aware planning.
- Generate dynamically feasible trajectories and references within airframe and actuator limits.
- Design guidance laws that steer the aircraft along references and maintain the desired path.
- Define interfaces with navigation and perception systems, including handling latency, rate changes, and input dropouts.
- Develop mode and failsafe logic for cruise, loiter, approach, and lost-link behavior.
- Validate systems through simulation, SITL, HITL, Monte Carlo campaigns, and flight testing, then diagnose and iterate using logs.
- Mentor junior engineers depending on seniority.
Requirements
- Degree in aerospace, robotics, GNC, or a related STEM field, with strong academic performance, or an equivalent practical track record.
- Proven experience with onboard motion planning, trajectory generation, trajectory tracking, and guidance laws on flying platforms.
- Hands-on experience closing a control loop on perception outputs while handling latency and dropout.
- Familiarity with learning-based planning or guidance and simulation-based training, with judgment to compare these methods against classical approaches.
- Systems-minded, pragmatic about failure modes and imperfect inputs, and disciplined about simulation and validation.
- Clear communication skills, including presenting guidance and test results to engineers and senior stakeholders.
- Experience with vision-based or perception-coupled guidance is a bonus.
- Commitment to Harmattan AI’s mission of providing a defensive edge to allied nations through ethical, high-impact technology.
Benefits
- Work location options include Lausanne, Paris, or Zurich.
