Base Salary

$320k - $405k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Build and operate data pipelines that convert raw usage data into clean, reusable, privacy-preserving datasets.
  • Design classifiers, model-internals probes, and the ML pipelines supporting analysis of Claude usage and AI’s economic impact.
  • Build self-service workflows to ingest and integrate external data sources with internal datasets.
  • Develop APIs, libraries, and interfaces that provide data to researchers and the public.
  • Partner with researchers, data scientists, policy experts, and cross-functional teams on economic research and Anthropic’s safety mission.
  • Contribute to the roadmap, documentation, and practices for safe, governed, self-service data access.
  • Maintain data reliability, integrity, and privacy compliance across economic research infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Significant production experience building data-intensive applications, pipelines, or internal tooling.
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure platforms such as AWS or GCP.
  • Strong Python development skills and a commitment to clean, well-documented code.
  • Understanding of analytics workflows and researcher and data-scientist needs.
  • Ability to make sound technical decisions amid ambiguity while maintaining high engineering standards.
  • Ability to work end-to-end across system components and responsibilities.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with technical and nontechnical partners.
  • Interest in AI’s economic implications and the societal impact of the work.
  • Preferred experience with modern data transformation, orchestration, and query frameworks.
  • Preferred experience building products on top of LLMs, privacy-preserving data systems, or data governance and lineage tooling.
  • Preferred experience operating web services and their underlying infrastructure, full-stack development, or complex data visualization.
  • Background in econometrics, statistics, or quantitative social science is a bonus.
  • Experience working closely with quantitative users in research labs, trading firms, or analytics companies is a bonus.
  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience in a relevant field.
