Base Salary
$204k - $259k/yr
Responsibilities
- Develop importance-sampling techniques to improve evaluation signals while reducing resource usage.
- Analyze logs and simulations to identify signals for discovering rare and important autonomous-driving events.
- Build systems that optimize multiple objectives under resource constraints.
- Design and execute statistical analyses and large-scale experiments.
- Build robust data-processing pipelines and contribute to the end-to-end experimental lifecycle.
- Write, review, and merge maintainable code in a large, complex, multi-language codebase.
- Collaborate with engineers, data scientists, statisticians, and leadership on evaluation products and data-driven decisions.
- Champion code health and engineering best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, robotics, statistics, physics, mathematics, or another quantitative field.
- Fluency with probability and statistics.
- At least 5 years of experience navigating and modifying large codebases containing languages such as C++, Python, and SQL.
- At least 5 years of experience performing statistical analyses, building data-processing pipelines, and following industry-standard code-quality practices.
- Preferred: 7+ years of quantitative engineering experience or 3+ years of postdoctoral experience.
- Preferred: technical-lead experience across complex multi-language codebases and the full experimental lifecycle.
- Preferred: experience programming in C++, developing and evaluating sampling methods, and designing, training, evaluating, and applying machine-learning models.
- Preferred: autonomous-vehicle industry experience and a PhD in a quantitative field.
