Base Salary
$232k - $258k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain software improving the reliability, scalability, and efficiency of thousands of production services.
- Lead end-to-end engineering initiatives across Production Engineering and Uber Engineering involving automation, engineering standards, developer tooling, and reusable frameworks.
- Partner with engineers to understand their services and guide reliable architectures and implementations.
- Apply observability, integration testing, load testing, chaos testing, on-call, incident management, failover, and disaster-recovery practices.
- Participate in on-call rotations, lead production-incident mitigation, and drive post-incident improvements.
Requirements
- 8+ years of software engineering experience using Go, Java, Python, or similar programming languages.
- Experience delivering engineering solutions end-to-end from problem definition and architecture through implementation, testing, and delivery.
- Ability to write technical proposals and RFCs and drive alignment through written and verbal communication.
- Preferred: experience in SRE, reliability engineering, or incident management at a large-scale technology company.
- Preferred: platform or infrastructure engineering experience in areas such as compute platforms, software networking, online storage, developer platforms, or observability.
- Preferred: experience mentoring engineers and leading technical projects or teams while remaining hands-on.
Benefits
- Base salary is USD $232,000-$258,000 per year for San Francisco and Sunnyvale, California-based roles.
- Eligible for Uber's bonus program and may be offered equity and other compensation.
