Base Salary
$143k - $243k/yr
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain software-defined, declarative compute infrastructure, build systems, services, and automation.
- Build scheduler and resource-management components for placement, prioritization, and preemption.
- Create tools for capacity data collection, forecasting, and reporting across private and public clouds.
- Write performance and load tests and detect scheduling latency and throughput regressions.
- Research and adopt tools and methods that improve compute efficiency and reliability.
- Collaborate with networking, orchestration, and SRE teams on integration and design.
- Participate in design reviews, on-call rotations, and post-incident improvements.
- Use AI tools to accelerate development and analysis and explore ML improvements to capacity or placement decisions.
Requirements
- 5+ years of related software engineering, cloud, or infrastructure automation experience with a bachelor’s degree; alternatively, 3+ years with a master’s degree, a PhD with relevant research or industry experience, or equivalent experience.
- Strong programming skills in Python, Go, or Java, with experience in related languages.
- Experience maintaining Linux-based systems using infrastructure-as-code and configuration management tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
- Experience with virtualization and cloud infrastructure across private and public clouds, including Azure, AWS, or GCP.
- Working understanding of IP networking, block and file storage, load balancers, DNS, NTP, and HTTP.
- Ability to work independently across interconnected systems and investigate root causes.
- Experience integrating AI into work processes, decision-making, or problem-solving.
- Preferred: experience with capacity planning, performance testing, load testing, Kubernetes, Slurm, large-scale schedulers, ML-driven scheduling, forecasting, capacity optimization, release management, or large-scale server infrastructure.
- Staff-level candidates additionally drive architectural discussions, lead end-to-end component or feature delivery, and mentor engineers.
