Base Salary
$86k - $108k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain backend services for tax and fee calculation, title and registration, and DMV status tracking.
- Integrate with third-party tax, registration, and ERP partners such as SAP and help resolve issues with external teams.
- Implement state- and jurisdiction-specific business rules and make them configurable and maintainable.
- Support dealer, location, vehicle program, and state expansion launches.
- Collaborate with Order Management, Finance, Shop engineering, Tax, Title and Registration Operations, and Program Management teams.
- Participate in on-call rotations, production issue triage, and operational support.
- Write tested code, contribute to reviews and documentation, and use AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor and Claude.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of professional software engineering experience, primarily with backend systems.
- Strong proficiency in Java and Spring Boot or a similar framework.
- Experience building and consuming REST APIs and integrating third-party services.
- Familiarity with relational databases and event-driven or messaging systems such as Kafka.
- Strong attention to detail, ownership of correctness, communication skills, and comfort working with non-engineering stakeholders.
- Ability to identify repeated patterns and propose cleaner, more scalable solutions.
- Preferred experience includes automotive, e-commerce, fintech, regulated domains, sales tax, vehicle registration, financial calculations, AWS, Kubernetes, ArgoCD, and SAP.
