Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, document, and maintain embedded software for new and existing Insulet products.
- Own assigned work end-to-end, including implementation, debugging, documentation, verification, and delivery.
- Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve complex software and system issues spanning multiple components, disciplines, or product generations.
- Evaluate technical tradeoffs, investigate root causes, and drive issues to resolution with minimal supervision.
- Ensure software designs and development activities comply with company policies and applicable medical-device regulatory requirements.
- Create and maintain design documentation, requirements, and test artifacts.
- Collaborate with Quality, Regulatory, Marketing, Manufacturing, software, software quality, hardware, and other cross-functional teams.
- Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and team planning, and share knowledge with teammates.
- Provide technical leadership through mentoring, design guidance, and support for technical excellence.
- Contribute across development, maintenance, and product-support activities as priorities change.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in software engineering, Computer Science, or a related field with 10+ years of relevant work experience, or a master’s degree in a related field with 8+ years of relevant experience.
- Strong programming skills in C and/or C++.
- Hands-on experience with embedded systems and embedded software for ARM, TI, MSP, or similar microcontroller-based systems.
- Experience contributing to a shared codebase and collaborating with internal and external team members.
- Ability to provide technical leadership through mentoring, reviewing, or guiding design areas while remaining hands-on.
- Knowledge of I2C, SPI, Flash, EEPROM, and/or USB.
- Familiarity with communication systems and wireless protocols; BLE experience is a plus.
- Medical-device or other regulated-industry experience.
- Knowledge of operating-system concepts including threading, mutual exclusion, interrupts, and deadlock avoidance.
- Understanding of RTOS and real-time systems, object-oriented design where applicable, and electrical schematics.
- Familiarity with Agile or other SDLC practices.
