Responsibilities
- Own the design and implementation of firmware spanning multiple embedded subsystems.
- Write, review, debug, and raise the quality standard of C and C++ firmware.
- Make and document architecture decisions that scale across products.
- Lead design reviews, code reviews, technical risk assessment, and cross-team decision-making.
- Mentor engineers and improve the team’s technical effectiveness.
- Partner with hardware, QA, cloud, app, and silicon vendor teams to deliver integrated products.
- Shape the firmware roadmap and technical strategy with management and leadership.
- Diagnose and resolve difficult hardware-specific, environmental, and long-duration reliability issues.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, analytics, mathematics, statistics, IT, or equivalent.
- Deep embedded development experience in C or C++ on resource-constrained hardware.
- End-to-end ownership of embedded subsystem or product design from architecture through production release.
- Experience shipping embedded products at volume.
- Experience with ARM CPUs, low-level drivers, interrupt service routines, and hardware/software boundary debugging.
- Experience mentoring engineers and raising a team’s technical standards.
- Ability to communicate technical decisions and risks clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Preferred: master’s degree or higher in computer science, computer engineering, or electrical engineering.
- Preferred: experience with new silicon or board bring-up, vendors, BLE, Wi-Fi, battery-powered products, power optimization, embedded audio or video streaming, embedded security, Embedded Linux, FreeRTOS, SPI, I2C, UART, JTAG, hardware test strategies, and GenAI applications.
