Base Salary

$120k - $304k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Set organization-level technical direction for production services and developer experiences across product and service boundaries.
  • Lead adoption and continuous improvement of AI-assisted engineering tools and Responsible AI practices across the software development lifecycle.
  • Improve engineering quality through automation, analysis, debugging, telemetry, retrospectives, and reusable engineering mechanisms.
  • Strengthen security, privacy, reliability, diagnosability, least-privilege practices, incident prevention, rollback, disaster recovery, and operational readiness.
  • Mentor technical leaders and raise engineering standards, velocity, quality, and operational discipline across the organization.
  • Lead cross-group planning, estimation, capacity planning, milestone definition, scope negotiation, tradeoff resolution, and execution adjustment.
  • Partner with developers, customers, and stakeholders to translate feedback, usage data, and success metrics into prioritized product improvements.
  • Influence technical strategy and product direction across teams without formal authority.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field and 4+ years of technical engineering experience building and operating cloud services, or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud Background Check.
  • Preferred: 4+ years of technical leadership and architecture experience at product scope.
  • Preferred: experience owning end-to-end customer and developer experiences, including requirements definition and delivery.
  • Preferred: experience with distributed systems and engineering systems.
  • Preferred: experience designing and delivering secure services, including identity/access patterns and privacy and compliance considerations.
  • Preferred: experience leading AI-assisted engineering tools and responsible use of AI-generated assets across an organization.
  • Preferred: strong customer empathy and experience using qualitative and quantitative feedback to iterate product experiences.
  • Preferred: ability to create significant impact within intricate codebases and large organizations.
  • Preferred: experience building AI-powered product capabilities and/or search, retrieval, or data/knowledge services at scale.
