Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end features across the Angular front end and server-side stack.
- Read, document, test, and migrate existing PL/SQL logic into application code.
- Plan and execute incremental modernization with safe comparison of legacy and new production paths.
- Write characterization tests and expand coverage for the existing codebase.
- Build and maintain containerized AWS services with managed databases and secrets management.
- Diagnose production issues using logs and metrics.
- Develop data-pipeline stages for ingestion, matching, deduplication, enrichment, and geocoding.
- Build and maintain Elasticsearch/OpenSearch indexes.
- Design event-driven SQS/SNS integrations with appropriate delivery guarantees.
- Integrate ML model endpoints into existing pipelines with observability and rollback safety.
- Maintain, upgrade, and fix the existing Grails application.
- Produce pull requests, design notes, and decision records.
- Collaborate with product, data, and operations stakeholders to sequence migrations around business priorities and risk.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent education and work experience.
- 8+ years of experience building and maintaining production web applications, including inherited systems.
- Full-stack depth with a modern front-end framework and server-side stack.
- Strong SQL skills and the ability to read and reason about PL/SQL stored procedures; Oracle experience is advantageous and the ability to work with Oracle is required.
- Experience with incremental legacy modernization, including strangler-fig, branch-by-abstraction, parallel-run, and characterization testing.
- Production AWS experience with containerized services, managed databases, secrets management, logs, and metrics.
- Demonstrated testing practice when replacing or migrating legacy logic.
- Clear written communication through pull requests, design notes, and technical decisions.
- Angular experience, especially with large applications upgraded across major versions, is preferred.
- Grails, Groovy, or a comparable JVM framework experience is preferred.
- Experience re-platforming from Oracle to PostgreSQL or Aurora and moving stored-procedure logic into application code is preferred.
- Data-pipeline or ETL experience involving ingestion, matching, deduplication, enrichment, or geocoding is preferred.
- Production Elasticsearch or OpenSearch experience is preferred.
- Python and event-driven integration experience using SQS/SNS or equivalent are preferred.
- Experience integrating ML model endpoints into an existing pipeline is preferred.
