Responsibilities
- Scope and shape AI platform initiatives from early concepts through implementation and influence technical and strategic decisions.
- Design, develop, and maintain Python backend services, APIs, microservices, and ETL pipelines in Azure or AWS.
- Translate requirements and problem statements into reliable code and working proof-of-concepts.
- Build and iterate LLM-based and agentic AI applications with attention to reliability, quality, and AI limitations.
- Collaborate with Cloud Operations, Solution Architecture, Product Engineering, Product Management, and subject-matter experts.
- Lead the technical approach for assigned work from design through implementation and provide technical direction.
- Evaluate and integrate applications written in other languages when needed.
- Test, validate, and continuously improve solutions through unit tests, automation, and iterative development.
- Progress projects from concept to prototype and contribute to technical plans for production.
- Work in an agile environment and adapt priorities to business needs.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- At least 7 years of professional software engineering experience.
- At least 4 years developing Python backend systems, including APIs, microservices, and ETL pipelines.
- Solid data engineering experience designing and maintaining data pipelines and working with large-scale datasets.
- At least 5 years working in cross-functional teams with Product, Cloud Operations, Architecture, Engineering, and subject-matter experts.
- At least 3 years working with LLMs or agentic AI applications and understanding their reliability challenges.
- Experience contributing to or defining software architecture for complex systems.
- Experience with AI/ML workflows such as RAG, vector databases, or evaluation techniques.
- Experience mentoring or providing technical guidance to other engineers.
- Experience deploying or integrating backend services in Azure or AWS cloud environments.
