Base Salary

$131k - $237k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Design embedded software architecture and implement software for airborne and missile defense systems.
  • Develop, test, troubleshoot, debug, integrate, and demonstrate embedded software and firmware.
  • Perform software requirements analysis, hardware compatibility analysis, and full software development lifecycle activities.
  • Develop software tools, harnesses, infrastructure, and products supporting integrated solutions and system maintenance.
  • Use development workflows, DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, test automation, and software engineering standards.
  • Communicate directly with customers, end users, internal stakeholders, and engineering teams.
  • Recommend and implement technologies, tools, standards, and workflow improvements.
  • Lead and mentor team members while contributing to complex project delivery and technical strategy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical discipline, with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
  • At least 12 years of relevant technical experience, or at least 10 years with a related master’s degree.
  • At least 5 years of real-time embedded systems experience in defense, aerospace, or safety-critical platforms is preferred.
  • U.S. citizenship and an active DoD Secret Security Clearance are required.
  • Expert-level C/C++ proficiency for embedded systems development.
  • Experience with real-time operating systems such as VxWorks, Integrity, or FreeRTOS.
  • Proficiency with embedded processors and microcontrollers, including ARM Cortex or RISC-V architectures.
  • Experience with embedded debugging tools such as JTAG and oscilloscopes.
  • Knowledge of software development practices including Agile, DevOps, CI/CD, and test automation for mission- and safety-critical programs.
  • Experience with guided weapons, flight controls, large-scale deterministic embedded systems, regulated environments, software safety standards, containerization, Jira, Git, and GitLab is preferred.
  • Ability to address complex technical challenges, work independently, collaborate effectively, and mentor developers across experience levels.
  • Must reside in North Alabama or be willing to relocate to the Huntsville–North Alabama area.
