Base Salary
$106k - $150k/yr
Responsibilities
- Develop software requirements, design, implementation, verification, and validation for embedded control of custom electric motors and variable frequency drives.
- Simulate physical plants, controls, and feedback signals to optimize system design and predict control performance.
- Perform unit software testing and bread-board bench testing.
- Develop test plans and unit-test setups to validate software and system performance.
- Integrate software, variable frequency drives, and custom motor prototypes in factory laboratories, remotely, and at customer locations.
- Plan, implement, and report software-feature status to internal and external customers.
- Support projects from concept through design and implementation and perform other assigned duties.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in software engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, or an equivalent field from an ABET-accredited institution; an advanced degree is preferred.
- At least five years of engineering experience.
- Experience using Matlab/Simulink, especially for integrated controls design and auto-compilation to hardware.
- Experience with modern control chipsets such as Texas Instruments and Xilinx.
- Ability to support customers and set and meet expectations at technical and programmatic levels.
- Experience implementing advanced motor-control technologies, including field weakening, harmonic modulation, over- and/or window-based sampling, direct torque, and sensorless algorithms.
- Experience making and communicating sound engineering decisions under pressured deadlines on fast-paced projects such as motorsport.
