Base Salary
$100k - $160k/yr
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain integration connectors for modern and legacy EHR systems to retrieve physician referrals and patient documentation.
- Architect fault-tolerant message queuing and delivery infrastructure for inbound and outbound HL7 and API traffic.
- Build and maintain integrations with third-party referral sources, attorney platforms, demand aggregators, and other systems.
- Own structured logging, alerting, monitoring, dashboards, and production observability for integration infrastructure.
- Identify and remediate reliability gaps, evolve data transformation architecture, and ship measurable referral-integration improvements.
- Use AI tools, LLMs, agents, or related tooling to automate and prototype real work while applying appropriate human oversight around patient data.
Requirements
- Experience integrating legacy systems that were not designed for modern interoperability, such as RIS platforms or equivalent infrastructure.
- Proficiency in at least one backend language such as Python, Ruby, Java, or C#.
- Familiarity with API integration patterns including schema versioning, backward compatibility, and API contract management.
- Strong operational instincts, including instrumentation, failure-mode analysis, and addressing systemic causes of on-call escalations.
- Demonstrated ability to build with AI by shipping, automating, or prototyping real work using LLMs, agents, or AI tooling.
- Ability to assess where agentic systems are appropriate and where humans must remain involved, particularly in regulated or PHI-adjacent workflows.
- Healthcare experience is preferred but not required; engineering depth and API design fluency are valued more heavily.
