Responsibilities

  • Specify software requirements in collaboration with operational users.
  • Coordinate with external communities involved in data system operations.
  • Define and oversee the evolution of mission control systems in response to flight-control-team needs and software or hardware changes.
  • Investigate and resolve problems in operational systems, tests, and simulation campaigns.
  • Act as software coordinator and participate in the Flight Control Team during critical operational phases such as launches.
  • Support continual service delivery and day-to-day incident management through an on-call service during normal working hours.
  • Maintain SCOS-2000-based mission control systems and related systems such as EDDS, EGOS-MPS, and DARC.
  • Support customers with ground software systems development.
  • Support Flight Control Team operations, meetings, and long-term planning.
  • Work across multiple activities, subsystems, and potentially multiple missions while participating in technical meetings and formal reviews.

Requirements

  • A university degree in a relevant engineering field, astronomy, mathematics, or physics.
  • Experience providing data systems engineering support is advantageous.
  • Experience with software engineering methods and tools used to develop data processing systems.
  • Ability to define, implement, validate, and operate software using Unix/Linux scripting languages, C++, Java, or Python.
  • Ability to understand user needs in complex software systems.
  • Knowledge of Earth Observation Mission Control Systems.
  • Knowledge of SCOS-2000 or related systems such as EDDS, EGOS-MPS, and DARC.
  • Medium to advanced experience with Linux-based systems.
  • Experience with Linux, network services and protocols, and system administration is desirable.
  • Experience with Copernicus Sentinel missions, ESOC, external interfaces, ITIL application management delivery, or EGS-CC-based systems is desirable.
  • Fluent written and spoken English is mandatory.
  • Ability to work independently and in teams, adapt to changing assignments, manage tasks efficiently, and demonstrate strong analytical, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Applicants must hold appropriate documentation and permits to work in Europe.
