Responsibilities

  • Define the database platform architectural roadmap and act as the primary stakeholder for database reliability.
  • Lead automated provisioning, scaling, lifecycle management, infrastructure-as-code, and self-service tooling for SQL and NoSQL databases.
  • Establish SLOs and SLIs, implement observability, proactively monitor systems, and serve as the escalation point for complex incidents.
  • Integrate automated schema migrations into CI/CD pipelines and establish zero-downtime deployment practices.
  • Own database access controls, encryption, backup, and disaster recovery strategy.
  • Operate and tune highly available database environments and streaming services at scale.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, System Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in database administration, database engineering, or SRE.
  • Demonstrated leadership of automated database provisioning, scaling, and lifecycle management using infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or Ansible.
  • Deep experience operating and tuning PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis, and Cassandra at scale.
  • Hands-on experience managing highly available databases in AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and automated schema migration tools such as Flyway or Liquibase.
  • Expertise in high availability, disaster recovery, RBAC, encryption, and advanced performance tuning.
  • Familiarity with streaming platforms such as Kafka.
