Base Salary
$180k - $230k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and own backend systems supporting order handling, ledger, and settlement flows.
- Partner with product and cross-functional teams to scope features, create implementation plans, and oversee execution.
- Provide technical leadership by leading project teams and mentoring junior engineers.
- Conduct code reviews covering design, quality, business-domain correctness, stability, and performance.
- Define engineering-wide standards and guidance and advise colleagues on critical technical decisions.
- Lead troubleshooting and resolution of complex production issues.
- Participate in on-call and treat operability as a design requirement.
- Monitor external technology developments and experiment with tools to improve existing solutions.
Requirements
- 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, including significant experience as a technical lead and mentor.
- Deep expertise building backend systems, including idempotency, transactions, concurrency control, and reliable service communication.
- Mastery of at least one programming language and framework, with the ability to become productive in unfamiliar technologies.
- Ability to work through ambiguity, absorb new information, set priorities, and execute in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex material clearly.
- Experience building and managing relationships with technical teams, stakeholders, and external partners.
- Preferred experience with Ruby or other parts of the stack, including PostgreSQL and RabbitMQ.
- Preferred experience with ledgers, settlement, payments, banking, or another domain where money moves and must balance.
