Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain web-based applications using Ruby on Rails or Java.
- Analyze business applications and design specifications and translate detailed designs into application systems.
- Test, debug, refine, and enhance applications to improve performance and add functionality.
- Prepare program-level and user-level documentation.
- Provide technical direction to engineers to help meet program deadlines.
- Support IT operations practices including issue management and incident response.
- Integrate front-end and back-end APIs and support use of other front-end frameworks.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and five years of experience in Linux environments, relational databases, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, data structures, and algorithms, or 11 years of related work experience in lieu of a degree.
- Five years of full-stack application development experience.
- Five years of experience developing web-based applications with Ruby on Rails or Java.
- Experience with Agile development methodologies.
- Effective oral and written communication skills and a strong customer service commitment.
- Familiarity with information security best practices.
- U.S. citizenship is required.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy clearance.
- Experience with Rails testing frameworks such as RSpec is desired.
