Base Salary
$171k - $269k/yr
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement machine learning algorithms and sophisticated models for Atlassian’s AI capabilities.
- Design system and model architectures and build, deploy, and scale machine learning solutions.
- Lead rigorous experimentation and evaluation of models and AI systems.
- Translate complex business and customer needs into impactful machine learning solutions.
- Collaborate with product, engineering, and analytics teams.
- Provide technical mentorship to emerging ML engineers.
- Help shape Atlassian’s AI strategy and drive adoption of AI capabilities across the company.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least five years of relevant industry experience in machine learning, data science, or a related discipline.
- Strong Python programming skills and proficiency in one or more production languages such as Java, Kotlin, or TypeScript.
- Proficiency in SQL and experience with Spark and cloud-based data environments such as AWS or Databricks.
- Experience building, deploying, and scaling machine learning models for business applications using large, complex datasets.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain data science concepts to diverse audiences.
- Preferred: experience fine-tuning, post-training, and optimizing large language, embedding, and ranking models.
- Preferred: experience developing and evaluating advanced agentic AI systems with planning, multi-step reasoning, and autonomous task execution.
- Preferred: experience in consumer or B2C, SaaS, enterprise, or B2B products.
