Responsibilities
- Design and deliver backend services and platform components using Java and Spring Boot, with optional Python/FastAPI development.
- Own solutions from technical design and architecture through production deployment, monitoring, and support.
- Build and operate event-driven, real-time data pipelines using Kafka and related streaming technologies.
- Design and maintain Java APIs and microservices using REST, OpenAPI, GraphQL, and gRPC.
- Lead data architecture decisions across PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redshift, relational, and NoSQL systems.
- Deploy and operate cloud-native services using AWS, EKS, Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Optimize systems for performance, scalability, fault tolerance, high availability, resiliency, and low latency.
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers through code reviews, technical guidance, and engineering standards.
- Partner with Investment Banking stakeholders, product managers, and cross-functional technology teams.
- Participate in Agile planning, execution, ceremonies, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- 12+ years of hands-on experience building enterprise-grade backend systems.
- Strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, microservices architecture, and distributed systems.
- Proven experience with Kafka and event-driven architectures in high-throughput environments.
- Solid SQL and data-modeling experience across relational and NoSQL systems.
- Hands-on experience with AWS, EKS, Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Demonstrated ability to design fault-tolerant and highly available systems.
- Ability to independently architect multi-service cloud-native solutions and explain technical trade-offs.
- Track record of leading engineering delivery end to end with high ownership and accountability.
- Excellent communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Preferred experience includes Python/FastAPI, Investment Banking or Financial Services, the Apache ecosystem, Salesforce, Tableau CRM, Cognos, Power BI, Databricks, StreamSets, MuleSoft, Angular, React, and TypeScript.
