Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and integrate AI solutions for space systems, including predictive maintenance, anomaly detection, autonomous orbital decisions, and ML-based signal processing.
- Improve and automate development processes using AI tools, including CI/CD pipelines, code-quality analysis, ML-based test automation, and data-driven development.
- Design, implement, verify, and validate flight, simulation, and test software for embedded real-time systems.
- Define and analyze software, system, and AI requirements in collaboration with systems engineers, hardware developers, and data scientists.
- Commission HW/SW systems on development hardware, integrate AI models into embedded environments, and troubleshoot complex systems.
- Create and maintain technical documentation and participate in agile development processes.
- Ensure compliance with relevant process standards and estimate the timing of assigned work packages.
Requirements
- Master’s degree or diploma in computer science, software engineering, electrical engineering, communications engineering, physics, or a related field with an AI or machine learning focus.
- Strong knowledge of machine learning, deep learning, and their application to embedded systems.
- Several years of experience developing embedded real-time systems with C.
- Experience with RTOS environments such as VxWorks, RTEMS, or Embedded Linux.
- Knowledge of hardware-oriented interface programming and protocols such as SpaceWire, MILBUS, CAN, PUS, or TCP/IP.
- Experience with UNIX/Linux development environments, Git, SVN, software configuration management, and AI frameworks such as PyTorch and TensorFlow.
- Very good written and spoken German and English.
- Experience in aerospace, automotive, or medical technology is advantageous.
