Responsibilities
- Own the lifecycle of Debian and Ubuntu images on amd64 and ARM, including kernel and OS bundling, builds, packaging, releases, OS updates, dual-boot, and scalable OTA mechanisms.
- Integrate kernel patches and drivers with applications and develop the hardware abstraction layer at the kernel/userspace boundary.
- Build and maintain D-Bus system daemons, platform utilities, and field-debugging tooling.
- Patch and integrate OpenGL, Vulkan, NPU, libc, crypto, and GPU vendor userspace components for the application layer.
- Own camera and media userspace using V4L2, image formats, controls, and OpenCV-level fixes.
- Develop GNSS and GPS sensor modules covering message parsing, interfaces, NTRIP forwarding, and precise timestamping.
- Support the C++ and Python ROS-based mapping stack and its ROS nodes on the platform.
- Build and maintain CI pipelines, hardware-in-the-loop tests, and stress tests.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional embedded Linux software development experience, ideally on ARM-based platforms.
- Strong hands-on C and C++ experience in a production codebase and solid Python experience for tooling, scripting, and automation.
- Experience reading, applying, and carrying kernel patches; working with sysfs and udev; and debugging across the kernel/userspace boundary.
- Experience building Linux images and managing OS lifecycles with Debian or Ubuntu, packaging, update or OTA mechanisms, and reproducible tested pipelines.
- Linux userspace platform experience with system daemons, D-Bus or comparable IPC, systemd, packaging, and platform tooling.
- Integration experience with at least one of camera/media pipelines and V4L2; GPU or graphics stacks and kernel-dependent libraries; or GNSS and sensor protocol software.
- Clear English communication for coordination with Embedded Software, Calibration and Sensors, and Application teams.
- Preferred experience includes ROS or comparable robotics middleware, hardware-in-the-loop testing, device performance and latency evaluation, camera and sensor systems, PTP, timestamping, production-scale device provisioning, Yocto, Buildroot, and open-source contributions.
