Responsibilities
- Own technical planning, execution, and delivery of Linux software milestones across platform bring-up, stabilization, and releases.
- Drive BSP and platform enablement for SoCs, including bootloaders, kernels, device trees, drivers, and root filesystems.
- Coordinate kernel, Yocto/build, middleware, validation, security, customer, silicon, firmware, hardware, and power/performance teams.
- Provide technical guidance and architecture oversight for Linux kernel internals, device trees, build systems, boot flows, virtualization, scalability, reuse, and upstream compatibility.
- Define and track feature readiness, risks, quality metrics, release artifacts, documentation, and hand-offs.
- Drive root-cause analysis and resolution of system-level boot, stability, performance, and CVE-related issues.
- Promote upstream-first and open-source compliance practices, review patches, and engage with open-source communities.
- Support customers and stakeholders through technical reviews, issue triage, roadmap alignment, and execution planning.
- Lead complex multi-team technical programs and communicate status, risks, and technical trade-offs to leadership.
Requirements
- 8–10 years of relevant experience is stated in the general summary.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field and 3+ years of software engineering or related experience; alternatively, a master's degree with 2+ years or a PhD with 1+ year.
- At least 2 years of academic or work experience with a programming language such as C, C++, Java, or Python.
- Strong expertise in Linux kernel internals, including drivers, power, memory, scheduling, and security.
- Hands-on experience with embedded Linux BSP development, ARM-based SoCs, and hardware bring-up.
- Working knowledge of Yocto, OWRT Project, BitBake, Device Tree, UEFI, U-Boot, ftrace, perf, gdb, crash, and JTAG.
- Experience driving complex, multi-team technical programs and managing dependencies, risks, milestones, and delivery deadlines.
- Preferred qualifications include mainline Linux development or upstream contributions; virtualization with KVM, Xen, or Gunyah; security hardening, CVE management, and compliance; and prior Tech Lead, System Lead, or Project Engineer experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication, stakeholder management, conflict resolution, and ability to influence without authority are required.
