Responsibilities

Own the architecture and delivery of VoD backend systems covering content ingest, transcoding, ABR packaging, metadata management, and delivery orchestration.
Design highly scalable and fault-tolerant distributed systems for global video processing and low-latency content delivery.
Lead video-processing pipeline design, including codec selection, container formats, ABR ladder optimization, and DRM/encryption workflows.
Define and implement APIs and microservices integrating the VoD platform with CMS, CDN, entitlements, and analytics systems.
Drive technical strategy, roadmap planning, system design reviews, code quality standards, observability patterns, and SLA/SLO frameworks.
Collaborate with streaming, playback, data engineering, DevOps, product, and content operations teams.
Improve throughput, processing costs, system resilience, and time-to-publish for new content.
Mentor senior and mid-level engineers and lead architecture reviews, design discussions, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
Champion incident response, post-mortem practices, and reliability improvements across the VoD stack.

7+ years of professional backend software engineering experience, including at least 3+ years in large-scale distributed systems or media/streaming platform roles.
Expert-level proficiency in Go, Python, or Java and strong knowledge of software engineering fundamentals, design patterns, and performance optimization.
Knowledge of H.264, H.265/HEVC, and AV1 codecs; MP4, fMP4, and CMAF container formats; and HLS and MPEG-DASH adaptive bitrate streaming protocols.
Strong distributed-systems design experience with message queues, workflow orchestration, and event-driven architectures.
Experience with AWS or GCP and production containerized deployments using Kubernetes and Docker.
Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, or Datadog and with production-grade reliability practices.
Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science or a related field, or a BE/B.Tech in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent; MS or PhD is a plus.
Strong problem-solving, ownership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration abilities.

Full-time onsite role based in Bangalore.
