Base Salary
$130k - $173k/yr
Responsibilities
- Engage customers and stakeholders to plan software functionality based on needs and constraints.
- Design, develop, optimize, and maintain embedded software modules, features, products, platforms, and firmware.
- Define system, hardware, software, and human-integration requirements and produce technical documentation.
- Plan and execute engineering testing, validation, verification, debugging, and integration from desktop simulations through representative flight tests.
- Implement networking protocols and algorithms for resource-constrained environments and collaborate with hardware teams on module and application communications.
- Ensure software robustness, resilience, fail-safe operation, and mitigation of safety and security vulnerabilities.
- Participate in prioritization, requirements and design reviews, code reviews, mentoring, and software development lifecycle activities.
- Support project scope, cost, and schedule goals; generate estimates for bids and programs; and demonstrate capabilities to customers.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related STEM field, or a master’s degree with the required experience pathway.
- At least 10 years of embedded product software engineering experience, or at least 7 years with a master’s degree.
- Proficiency in Ada, C, C++, or equivalent programming languages.
- Experience developing networking protocols and implementing detailed embedded software or firmware designs.
- Experience with embedded software testing, debugging, hardware integration, real-time operating systems, device drivers, parallel or distributed processing, and multi-threaded or multi-core systems is preferred.
- Experience with IPv4, IPv6, ARP, ICMP, IGMP, DHCP, TCP, UDP, NTP, IPsec, and IKE is preferred.
- Experience with Python, Perl, Tcl, Git, CVS, SVN, Perforce, Cameo, debuggers, test equipment, UARTs, and JTAGs is preferred.
- Experience in mission-critical industries, bare-metal software optimization, model-based engineering, compilers, build tools, source-code control, IDEs, version-control tools, defect-tracking tools, and scripting tools is preferred.
- Current or maintainable U.S. Government security clearance is preferred or required for the role, and U.S. citizenship is required as a prerequisite for clearance.
- Strong written and verbal communication, critical thinking, troubleshooting, and technical problem-solving skills.
