Responsibilities

  • Define product baselines, standard requirements, system architectures, ICDs, design and analysis goals, test plans, and operations concepts.
  • Lead and perform safety analyses including Fault Tree Analysis, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis, FMECA, reliability analysis, and hazard analysis.
  • Perform system-level trade-offs and coordinate inputs across disciplines to evaluate changes to mission design baselines.
  • Maintain interfaces between spacecraft subsystems and contribute to requirements management and closure.
  • Support AIT, flight and test operations groups, and subsystem leads in defining verification test plans and specifications.
  • Coordinate subsystem and operations teams in defining spacecraft operational concepts.
  • Contribute to maintaining and integrating Model-Based Systems Engineering tools.
  • Participate in embedded flight software design, implementation, integration, verification and validation, rehearsals, and on-console operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent.
  • At least 5 years of experience in the design, implementation, integration, and verification and validation of embedded flight software subsystems.
  • Operational experience including operations preparation, rehearsals, and on-console activities.
  • Experience with FMECA, reliability analysis, and/or hazard analysis.
  • Programming experience with MATLAB, Python, or equivalent.
  • Experience making key decisions in a fast-paced environment, with strong ownership, accountability, presentation, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Working-level English proficiency.
  • Preferred: design, analysis, or testing experience in at least one additional spacecraft subsystem, such as Structure, Thermal, Avionics, Propulsion, Communications, or GNC.
  • Preferred: experience with requirements decomposition from mission level to unit level and system-level testing such as hardware-in-the-loop testing.
  • Working-level Japanese proficiency is preferred.
